Case 3: STRATEGY FOR GRIEVING CLIENT. 26yr f. Issue: Father passed away. Intern asks John about Stage-of-Loss. Mr. John Melton reviews the “Anger” Stage-of-Loss and suggests “Ego-Strengthening,” Stages-of-Development,” and “Re-parenting.” Listen for the importance of giving clients “reasons” before “suggestions.”

Case 5: JOHN MELTON ON THE ARM-RAISING INDUCTION. Intern inquires about the “Arm-Raising Induction.” John discusses the “Arm-Raising Induction” and the concept of “fait-compli,” and Mr. Melton shares his opinion of Ericksonian Hypnosis.

Case 6: EXTREMELY OVERWEIGHT BOY. 8yr m. Issue: Very overweight. Mr. John Melton emphasizes getting a Doctor involved immediately.

Case 7: HYSTERECTOMY & WEIGHT GAIN. 47yr f. Issue: Put on weight after hysterectomy. Mr. Melton advises the intern to discover what the weight “means” for the client, and John suggests “stress-reduction” techniques.

Case 8: ADVISING AN INTERN AT FAULT. Intern’s client showed much “resistance” during induction. John describes this as a “conflict,”, and Mr. Melton advises the intern to not “judge” or take client responses “personally.”

Case 9: LAW OF REPETITION FOR STROKE VICTIM. 43yr f. Issue: Dual stroke victim; stress-reduction. Mr. John Melton explains the benefits of “repetition” or “positive reinforcement.”

Case 10: ADDRESSING A LYING CLIENT. Intern inquires about a client who is “chronically lying” during session. Mr. John Melton suggests how to address this adequately while keeping “rapport.”
